1 silver and 1 bronze medal each from the 36th International Informatics Olympiad
RA schoolchildren won 1 silver and 1 bronze medal each at the 36th International Informatics Olympiad, which was held on September 1-8 in Alexandria, Egypt.
370 students from 96 countries participated in the Olympiad. Each country could represent a maximum of 4 students.
The Olympiad team of Armenia was represented by Hakob Ayvazyan, a 12th grade student of Gyumri High School No. 1, A. Tsovak Yegoryan, an 11th-grade student of the special physics school named after Shahinyan, Alex Grigoryan (10th grade) and Gagik Gevorgyan (11th grade), students of the Kvant school. The RA team won 1 silver (Gagik Gevorgyan) and 1 bronze (Tsovak Yegoryan) medals, as well as 2 commendations (Hakob Ayvazyan and Alex Grigoryan).
The Olympiad was held in 2 rounds. 3 tasks in each.
The Armenian team was led by YSU lecturer Armen Andreasyan and student Samvel Andreasyan.
Let us remind that in 2023 The Armenian team won 3 bronze medals at the 35th Informatics Olympiad, which was held in Hungary.
We would like to inform you that with the international Olympiad of the subject "Informatics" the international Olympiads of the 7 main scientific subjects of the 2023-2024 academic year have ended, in which 29 students from 8 educational institutions of the republic participated. They won 1 silver and 18 bronze medals (mathematics: 5 bronze, chemistry: 4 bronze, physics: 3 bronze, astronomy: 3 bronze, biology: 2 bronze, informatics: 1 silver and 1 bronze, geography: no medals). Among the educational centers, medals were awarded to "Kvant" school (1 silver and 4 bronze), A. Shahinyan Physmath Special School (10 bronze), Vanadzor Special School with Advanced Mathematics and Science Subjects (2 bronze), ASPH High School (1 bronze) and Sevan High School (1 bronze). In the previous academic year 2022-2023, RA students won 1 gold, 4 silver and 14 bronze medals.
