A bust of Soghomon Tehliryan will be unveiled today in Marseille


A memorial event dedicated to Soghomon Tehliryan (Tehleryan) will be held today in the Church of the Holy Spirit in Prague. The speeches will be followed by a screening of a documentary film dedicated to Tehliryan's trial.

orer.eu informs that today at 11:00 a.m., the bust of Soghomon Tehliryan, a righteous person of the Armenian people, will be solemnly unveiled in the Pasteur square in the Pomont district of Marseille. After the opening, a commemorative event will be held in the hall of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Pomona.

A figure of the Armenian national liberation movement, Armenian avenger, survivor of the Armenian Genocide, Tehlirian was born on April 2, 1896 in Bagarich in the Ottoman Empire and died on May 23, 1960 in San Francisco.

In 1921, Tehliryan participated in the Dashnaktsutyun Nemesis operation, receiving the task of killing the main organizer of the Yeghern, Talaat Pasha. On March 15 of the same year, on Hardenberg Street in Berlin's Charlottenburg district, he shot and killed Talaat and was arrested. However, on June 2, 1921, the German court declared him innocent.
