"Hraparak": Negotiations are underway on the issue of EU observers

The Hraparak newspaper writes: "For a long time, Azerbaijan has been demanding that observers carrying out a mission in Armenia be removed from the Armenian-Azerbaijani border starting in 2023. This is one of the points of the "peace agreement" that has not yet been agreed upon between the parties. Does this mean that they will not extend the term of the observers' activities?" we asked NA Speaker Alen Simonyan during a briefing yesterday.

He gave a negative answer, saying that Azerbaijan had made such a demand, and the Armenian side had presented its version regarding the continuation of the observers' activities. We asked to reveal what version the Armenian side had proposed, but he did not reveal it, saying that it would hinder the negotiations.

We voiced the information we have that the Armenian side proposes to change the format of the observation mission to continue their mission in an office version, further from the borders. Alen Simonyan noted: "I do not exclude that there will be no need to conduct an observation mission in those points where we have a demarcated border, for example, in the Kirants region. I do not exclude it, but I cannot say anything definite."
