"Iravunk": Avinyan has found himself in a catastrophic situation
The “Iravunk” newspaper writes: “Amid the announcements about the increase in transport prices and the boycott against it, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan has gone on vacation. He will return to work on January 27. But whether he will return is perhaps the question. Evil tongues say that the latter has appeared in the spotlight of Nikol Pashinyan’s State Control Service. And what the State Control Service may discover is extremely exciting.
They say that there are many interesting episodes for the PAV in the financial inflows and outflows of the municipality. As a result, if Tigran Avinyan is not tried, at least he will be dismissed. And with this, Nikol Pashinyan will solve several issues at once. First, he will complete the operation to make his loyal deputy mayor Armen Pambukhchyan the mayor. And second, he will ensure his personal PR by sacrificing Avinyan, who is raising the price of "healthy" transport.
It is no coincidence that Nikol Pashinyan appeared on the subway yesterday. So, it is not excluded that at the upcoming government session he will throw a fit at the municipality, noting the problems existing in public transportation.
Third, it will show the Trump administration in the US that it has also started a "cleansing" by getting rid of the strong pro-Western liberal cadres in power.
