It turns out that for the manager of the "bastion of democracy" I, Vazgen, Trump and Biden are hooligans. Narek Samsonyan
Chairman of "Civic Consciousness" NGO, founder of AntiFake.am website, political prisoner Narek Samsonyan from the "Armavir" penitentiary sent an open letter-question to the US Ambassador to Armenia Christina Quinn, which we present in full below.
"Ma'am Ambassador, I am writing to you from the bastion of democracy "Armavir" prison. I'm sure you are aware that the authorities of Armenia detained me and my friend Vazgen Saghatelyan, co-author of the "Imnemnim" podcast, for two months exclusively for media activities. I will not present the details of the case, I am sure you are familiar with it.
The main reason I am writing you an open letter is to get answers to several important questions for me and a large part of the public, whether you want them to be public or not. Madam Ambassador, on February 22, US President Joe Biden, speaking about Russian President Vladimir Putin, literally said "that crazy son of a bitch" during a fundraiser held in San Francisco (perhaps this does not need to be translated into Armenian). This definition of President Biden was heard and read by the whole world, or, to be honest, billions of people. President Trump was no less "eloquent" than President Biden, who was also known for publicly insulting his opponents. A few more examples from the vocabulary of your previous president. "stupid son of a bitch", "dumb son of a bitch", "sleeping son of a bitch", "fuck you son of a bitch", "that bitch", etc.
Now, Madam Ambassador, we are not the president of the country, nor do we have 5 percent of the level of interest that your presidents had, and we have been free with our media activities to say to our narrow audience the exact same thing about the de facto ruler of our country that your sitting president said to an audience of billions. before the President of the Russian Federation, and because of that we are detained in the "bastion of democracy". By the way, in the text of the accusation it is written exactly like that: "... they cursed the Prime Minister of the country and the representatives of the government...". Now, it turns out that for the ruler of the "bastion of democracy" I, Vazgen, Donald Trump and Joe Biden are hooligans, and given the obvious differences in audience sizes, according to the Pashinyan regime, your presidents are much more dangerous hooligans. Based on the above, my first question. Madam Ambassador, do you also think that what we are doing is hooliganism, if not, what are you going to do about it?
Let me elaborate my next question. As a result of the spread of social media in the last decade, traditional media platforms have been replaced by new format media products. Among them, one of the most popular formats is the podcast, which implies a more direct and longer interaction with the audience. Parallel to the above (according to specialists), the development of the same social media has led to the popularization of politics, and as a result, the political dialectic experienced a qualitative regression all over the world. As a result of the publicization of politics, the individuals engaged in politics (especially those in power) were constrained with a higher degree of tolerance, and in democracies, especially in the "bastion of democracy", the degree of tolerance should be many times higher. Now, we, the homeless people engaged in media activity, whose podcast has been on the air for a year, which has had about 90 episodes and more than 100 guests, have been detained for two months for calling representatives of the government and the Prime Minister himself "son of a bitch". Let me formulate my question. Madam Ambassador, which type of administration is characterized by such permissiveness? Do you think this behavior is characteristic of democracy or steadily developing authoritarianism? What is your rating?
And let me formulate perhaps the last question. Madam Ambassador, have you seen the footage of my arrest (if not, they will definitely provide the footage on a medium when forwarding my letter to you), if so, then I would like to ask you to answer if, for example, in any of your geopolitical rival countries, a media figure was detained in a similar manner. how would you react I think that even in the White House they would have given his wife a reception. And why is your stony silence in our case? Don't you think that it is for this reason that the value and ideological part of liberal democracy has been a total fiasco in the last two decades?
P.S. I'm not sure that the questions I ask will be answered in the same way, but I'm writing this for history."
