Minister Arpine Sargsyan has failed her job: the rights of 477 prisoners have been violated. "Zhoghovurd"

The “Zhoghovurd” daily writes: “Serious dissatisfaction has grown over the activities of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs. In an interview with the “Zhoghovurd” daily, a number of judges and lawyers stated that their patience has run out, and they are preparing to take the complaint all the way to the European Court of Human Rights.

And what is the problem? The point is that the police teams accompanying the detainees are unable to bring detainees to the courts in a number of criminal proceedings, and court hearings rarely take place. In other words, the lawyers go to court, the judge is willing to convene a hearing, but the detainees are not brought to court.

This situation has angered many lawyers, and it is not ruled out that an application will even be sent to the European Court of Human Rights with complaints about the violation of the prisoners' rights.

ArmLur.am reported that according to official data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, during January 2025, 1,601 applications were received by the bodies conducting the proceedings to accompany 1,757 persons deprived of their liberty, of which, due to the overload of the escorting units of the Main Department of the Community Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it was not possible to fulfill the requirements of 438 applications, concerning 477 persons deprived of their liberty.
