From August 19, 2024, the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia organized a free two-week summer school for the senior classes and high school students of the main schools of Yerevan and RA marzes. There were meetings and discussions with deputies and high-ranking officials.
Davit Arakelyan, head of the staff of the National Assembly, signed a contract with "LORE TRAVEL" LLC for the "Summer School". The contract cost 22,800,000 AMD, almost 56,000 dollars, which specified specific requirements:
"RA NA 2024 Organization of "Summer School" (educational and cultural) from August 19 to August 31 of this year inclusive. Within the framework of the program, according to the agreement (ed.), the transportation of the participants from the hotel to the RA National Assembly was carried out for 30 people, from the RA National Assembly to the hotel for 60 people, and to other places - for 60 people. Dinner was also prepared for 60 people. Organization of a break for the participants in a restaurant (on Saturdays and Sundays) for 60 people (1 person at the rate of AMD 12,000, including all fees for the provision of services), which includes: cold snacks, salads, hot snacks, soups, hot dishes, side dishes , soft drinks (also natural), desserts (pastries), fruit, etc. final orders shall be (ed.) in agreement with the client/organizers”.
There were visits to museums, galleries, cinemas, National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet, restaurants, etc.
22 million drams, it would seem, is nothing for education, even a little, but the gap in the costs of the "Summer School" makes the program even less serious.
What did the students of "Summer School" do?
"Arranging a bonfire in the yard area of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, including all the necessary accessories and 70 puf armchairs (soft chairs) for organizing a bonfire." According to another contract, a contract worth 1 million 800 thousand drams was signed on the condition of the provision of food/break provision services for the participants of the 2024 "Summer School" program of the RA National Assembly.
This is how the NA staff allocated funds for the "Summer School", which is a temporary program and was a conversation at the level of contacts, not a serious course.
