"People". Who among the representatives of show business paid how much tax?

"Zhoghovurd" daily writes: Rustam Badasyan, the President of the SRC of the Republic of Armenia, stated: "Representatives of show business in Armenia have started to more dutifully declare their incomes and pay taxes." RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan spoke about the opposite in February 2024, targeting celebrities, saying that representatives of show business should pay taxes, otherwise they will be held liable under the law.

According to Pashinyan, the road leading to the airport should not be used by show business representatives going to work abroad and performing concerts abroad, because that road was built thanks to taxpayers. According to Pashinyan, why should those going to the airport drive on the road built thanks to our taxes? "We don't want them to travel on the road created at our expense. Let our dear compatriots build a road for themselves and travel on that road, because that road wears out, doesn't it? We haven't figured it out in a long time. It seemed to us that only the shoe wears out. the road wears out too... We have to tell the show business representatives from the airport that these roads are not for you, through the Zangvi valley, enjoying the nature, come on foot and reach Yerevan," Pashinyan said in his speech.

The "Zhoghovurd" daily newspaper applied to the RA State Revenue Committee. we asked, according to the AVCs provided by us, to appropriately provide the annual tax turnover of individual entrepreneurs from 2019 to 2023.

In the table you will see the tax turnover of 15 representatives of show business. For example:

  1. Mihran Tsarukyan paid 932 thousand drams in taxes in 2019, 1 million 18 thousand in 2020, 70 thousand in 2021, and there are no tax receipts in 2022 and 2023.

  14. Artash Asatryan has not paid taxes in Armenia.

It should be noted that the mentioned private individuals, which did not show tax turnover in any year, paid tax in a different way. The SRC also informed us that the incomes of individuals, in cases defined by law, can be taxed and declared by other tax payers who are tax agents. In other words, show business representatives often pay taxes not with their private companies, but through their "productions". In other words, the mentioned zeros are not about not paying taxes, but about not paying with personal income tax.

In short, Nikol Pashinyan has not yet been able to know or reveal the truth."
