"People". Will the mayor of Goris, Arush Arushanyan, join the "Civil Agreement" party?
"Zhoghovurd" daily writes: "According to the exclusive information of "Zhoghovurd" daily newspaper, Arush Arushanyan, the mayor of Goris, Syunik Marz, RA, has submitted an application to join the "Civil Agreement" party.
According to our information, Arush Arushanyan's becoming a member of the Communist Party is the result of very serious pressures, because the Communist Party, represented by Nikol Pashinyan, has repeatedly used repressions against Arush Arushanyan.
Let's remind that after 9 months of detention, Goris Mayor Arush Arushanyan was released from the courtroom on March 28, 2022, when the judge acquitted him of election crimes. After his release from prison, Arushanyan stated in a conversation with journalists that he does not consider himself a political prisoner, that he is fighting for the sake of the motherland, first of all, against "internal enemies". Arushanyan also participated in the last elections of the National Assembly on the list of the opposition "Armenia" bloc, and was elected a deputy.
"Zhoghovurd" daily contacted Arush Arushanyan, who urged us not to call him and not to bother him with such questions.
According to the information of the "Zhoghovurd" daily, Syunik Marz Governor Robert Ghukasyan also contributed to Arushanyan's becoming a CP member.
Let us also add that Arushanyan was accused in two different cases. Today, he was acquitted for assisting and preparing to bribe voters during last year's parliamentary elections. Lusine Avetyan, the leader of Karahunj, who was a member of Goris, who first testified against him, but then refused to do so, was also acquitted in this case. He regretted testifying against Arushanyan in the court, while during the preliminary investigation he told that Arushanyan urged him to give 100-220 thousand drams of aid to those voting in favor of the "Armenia" bloc.
The second criminal case attributed to Arushanyan, in which he was found guilty, is related to 2017. According to the law enforcement officers, the mayor of Goris engaged in illegal entrepreneurship through his own company and caused damage to the environment and the state. In addition, according to another aspect of the accusation, Arushanyan intentionally caused damage and physical injuries to the health of a citizen.
Let's remind that "Zhoghovurd" daily wrote on December 7 that the authorities have decided to get rid of all opposition community heads. As it is known, at the end of last year, CP took power in Alaverdi by force and dismissed the mayor of the community, who was represented by the "Aprelu Yerkir" party.
Apparently, Arush Arushanyan was also threatened with something similar, as a result of which he submitted an application to join the party."
