"Publication". Another alert from the fort

"Hraparak" newspaper writes: Violations of the rights of convicts in Nubarashen penitentiary have recently become more frequent. Almost every day, they alert about another extraordinary incident from that institution. Last week, we received information from the convicts that there was a stabbing incident in one of the cells of the fortress. Detainee N. hit another detainee, Rustam H., with a knife. The latter was transferred to "Erebuni" medical center. We asked the Penitentiary Service for clarification on the incident.

We were told by the public relations department of the Central Committee that the incident took place on June 7. "As a result of an argument in the cell, one of the detainees held in the Nubarashen Penitentiary Institution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia struck the arm and side of another detainee held in the same cell with a homemade knife. The arrested person who received injuries was immediately transferred to the civil hospital, after treatment of the wounds he was returned to "Nubarashen" prison. On the same day, a report was given to the investigation department of the Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts of the RA Criminal Investigation Department of the city of Yerevan, criminal proceedings were initiated."

"According to our information, one of the detainees repeatedly appealed to the leadership of Nubarashen, stating that he had conflicts with his cellmates, and asked to be transferred to another cell, but the fortress management ignored his requests."
