The Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates St. Apostle Thaddeus and St. The day of commemoration of the virgin Sandukht

S. Apostle Thaddeus and St. Virgin Sandukht is one of the most celebrated saints of the Armenian Church, because the history of Armenian enlightenment is related to their name. After Christ's Ascension, according to the Lord's message: "Go, therefore, make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" (Matt. 28:19), Thaddeus first comes to Edesia, the word of life in the gospel, among many healing miracles also to King Abgar, then appointing himself as his replacement in Edesia, he goes to the domains of the Armenian king Sanatruk. Here, after preaching in various places, he brings many pagans to the Christian faith and establishes the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church.

Arriving in Artaz province, the apostle entered the Armenian court and converted the virgin princess Sandukht. Becoming aware of all this, the Armenian king Sanatruk at first urges his daughter to return to her former faith, but in vain. The enraged king throws either the Apostle Thaddeus or the Sandukht Virgin into prison and tortures them severely. Arkun's last attempt to dissuade the princess through the princely ruler also goes in vain. The ruler also becomes a Christian.

Finally, by the order of the king, S. Apostle Thaddeus and St. The virgin Sandukht was martyred in the royal country house Shavarshavan. The Armenian Church of St. The memory of the apostle Thaddeus is commemorated twice a year, first, on St. Apostle Bartholomew, then St. Sandukht with a virgin.
