The cause of death of a 20-year-old pregnant woman was found out. Three doctors have been charged
Within the framework of the preliminary investigation of the criminal proceedings being investigated in the Lori Marz Investigation Department of the RA Investigative Committee, it was found out that in 2022 essential circumstances of the death of M.G., a 20-year-old resident of Vanadzor, in August.
On August 25, 2022, a report was received from the "Republican Institute of Reproductive Health, Perinatology, Obstetrics and Gynecology" CJSC that the death of a pregnant woman transferred to them on the same day was recorded.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated in connection with the case, according to the characteristics of the 2nd part of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
As a result of the primary necessary investigative and administrative actions carried out during the preliminary investigation, including the conclusion of the appointed forensic medical examination, factual data was obtained that in 2022 On August 22, around 4:00 p.m., a 20-year-old pregnant woman from Vanadzor went to the "Vanadzor Medical Center" due to feeling unwell and was examined.
As a result of the conducted research, an incomplete clinical diagnosis of "Right-sided lumboischalgia" was given by the relevant specialist, and the pregnant woman was sent home with prescribed medication.
However, hours later, the latter applied again to the same medical center and was admitted to the obstetrics department for inpatient treatment.
After that, in accordance with the given incomplete clinical diagnosis, drug treatment was continued, but the condition of the pregnant woman worsened.
A joint examination of the patient was carried out by two relevant specialist doctors, which, however, as the examination revealed, was carried out improperly. namely, the same incomplete clinical diagnosis was given again, the data on the examination of the lungs of the pregnant woman was not recorded, the main pathology was not diagnosed, and the necessary medical measures were not carried out in the volume corresponding to the given pathology.
Then, in the conditions of deterioration in the dynamics of the patient's condition, a therapist's consultation was appointed, which was also carried out improperly, even recording "vesicular breathing", the main pathology mentioned in the pregnant woman was not diagnosed, and necessary medical measures were not carried out.
According to the received expert opinion, the proper implementation of the necessary clinical-laboratory and instrumental researches would have made it possible to timely diagnose the existing bilateral pus-fibrin interstitial pneumonia in the woman and, by undertaking the implementation of appropriate medical measures in the necessary volumes, it would be possible to save the patient's life by preserving the pregnancy, for the implementation of which there were no objective obstacles in the medical center.
As a result of the mentioned omissions, in 2022 on August 25, around 09:00, as a result of an ultrasound examination, the pregnant woman was diagnosed with intrauterine death of the fetus. On the same day, the woman was transferred to the "Republican Institute of Reproductive Health, Perinatology, Obstetrics and Gynecology" CJSC in a comatose state. Despite timely and adequate resuscitation measures, it was not possible to save the life of a 20-year-old woman.
On the basis of sufficient facts obtained, three persons carrying out medical activities of "Vanadzor Medical Center" were presented for improper performance of professional duties, negligent and unscrupulous attitude towards the performance of duties (which negligently caused the death of a 20-year-old resident of Vanadzor city). charges under part 2 of Article 187 of the RA Criminal Code.
The investigation is ongoing.
