The Yerevan Civil Court of General Jurisdiction has accepted for consideration the lawsuit filed by Grigor Iskandaryan, a member of the "Mother Armenia" faction of the Yerevan Council of Elders. Factor.am reports.
Let us remind you that an opposition member of the Council of Elders sued Mayor Tigran Avinyan's father, Armen Avinyan, for calling Opel drivers "stupid." Iskandaryan is demanding symbolic financial compensation of 500 thousand drams from Armen Avinyan for the insult. Factor.am learned about this from the "Datalex" judicial information system. It became known from open sources that the Yerevan Civil Court of General Jurisdiction initially did not accept the submitted claim for proceedings, since, according to the court, there were errors in the claim. The court returned the claim and gave the plaintiff 15 days to eliminate the shortcomings. The claim submitted for the second time has already been accepted for proceedings.
Let us recall that at the end of 2024, Armen Avinyan, in response to a journalist's question about the "red lines", called Opel drivers "stupid". "They should make 500 thousand so that every stupid person doesn't come to the station with his beautiful Opel," Armen Avinyan said and boasted that he drives an electric car and, accordingly, parks for free in the "red lines".
Hours after the video was shared, Tigran Avinyan expressed regret for his father's words and apologized, assuring him that his father had said "ugly words in a moment, under the influence of nerves." In that video message, Avinyan again blamed the media.
