Artak Vardanyan, a conscript who died in Yerevan's military hospital yesterday, was from the city of Sisian in Syunik province and the only son in the family. Residents of Sisian told NEWS.am that according to preliminary information, the boy died of pneumonia.

"He was a very good, graceful, intelligent boy, a model of modesty. He lived with his parents and sister. His father had died months ago... Artak was serving in Ijevan. He had a weight problem, he was not supposed to go to the army, but he was drafted. His mother and sister remained. The mother managed to reach Yerevan from Sisian to the hospital to see her son, after which the boy's death was only just registered. It is a terrible pain for all of us, there are no words...", said one of the residents of Sisian.
