The state debt of Armenia is smoothly approaching the threshold of 12 billion dollars. Hetq.am:

As of the end of February 2024, the national debt of Armenia amounted to 11 billion 943 million US dollars. Compared to the beginning of the year, it increased by 97.5 million dollars or by 0.8%. This is evidenced by the data of the Ministry of Finance. Hetq.am writes about this.

In particular, the external state debt amounted to 6 billion 441 million dollars as of the end of February, decreasing by 60 million dollars or 0.9% in two months.

And the domestic debt amounted to 5 billion 502 million dollars, increasing by about 158 million dollars or 2.9%.

Thus, the state debt of Armenia is currently growing at the expense of the internal debt. Internal sources are state bonds, the money generated from their issuance, as in the case of external debt, the state directs to budget expenses.

External sources are international organizations such as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and states such as Russia, Germany, etc. Foreign currency bonds are also issued.

Let's remind that in 2023, the state debt of Armenia increased by 1 billion 208 million dollars or 11.4%, making 11 billion 845 million dollars.

In particular, the domestic debt increased by 1 billion 152 million dollars or 27.5%, making 5 billion 344 million dollars.

As can be assumed, with this rate of growth, the domestic debt will not only be equal to the foreign debt, but may even surpass it by the end of this year.
