THE UNION OF COMPOSERS IS AGAINST THE CONSERVATORY BEING A PART OF ANOTHER BUILDING
The fact that the question of unification of higher education institutions is still in the form of a project is not a guarantee that it cannot become a reality. The list of "unifying" universities also includes Yerevan State Conservatory named after Komitas, the number one professional higher music institution of our country, a structure that has repeatedly confirmed both its high rank and the importance of its significance as an Armenian, as well as in world music.
The building of the musical forge built in the heart of the capital, as a structure, complements the huge cultural complex, which includes the city's main concert halls, music schools, dance school, etc., so the transfer of the conservatory to another place will directly affect the organic activity of the institution. In addition, by uniting with other universities, it will actually cease to function as an independent structure, which is not a benefit to the institution in any way, especially since the name of the founder of the Armenian National School of Composers, the great Komitas, will appear, to put it mildly, on the sidelines.
It is needless to say that there are academic cities in many countries of the world, but this has in no way affected the closure of conservatories that are vital to the country. On the contrary, states have continued to hold these institutions under their highest care. After all, the high level of culture is the face of any state.
Efforts and energy should not be spared so that one of our national values, Yerevan State Conservatory named after Komitas, develops anew in the 21st century, continuing to be one of the key educational centers of both our capital and our people. Therefore, on this occasion, the Union of Composers of Armenia, almost all of whose members graduated from this institution, and some even work there, expresses its support for the idea of the Yerevan State Conservatory continuing its activities in its building and not becoming part of any other structure.
