They threaten the Armenian Apostolic Church, but they travel to the US with state budget funds for a religious summit. "Zhoghovurd"
The “Zhoghovurd” daily writes: “The authorities in Armenia threaten the Armenian Apostolic Church, despise it and target it, but spending huge amounts of money from the state budget to participate in a religious event, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s delegation is crossing oceans, 9-10 thousand kilometers.
Let us recall that on February 1, Pashinyan, his wife, and other accompanying persons left for the United States to participate in the International Religious Freedom Summit and the National Prayer Breakfast from February 3-7. These events are held annually in the US capital, Washington. Formally, this served as the basis for Pashinyan's visit to Washington, which began on February 1.
As Prime Minister, Pashinyan's participation is understandable, but the presence of MP Arsen Torosyan, who is an atheist but participates in a religious event, is highly puzzling.
Let us remind you that we are talking about the same Arsen Torosyan, who declared: “What is the Bible? A book in which it is written that there is a God, and that book is the only “proof” of His existence? I believe in Charles Perrault’s fairy tales more.” “I am an atheist, are there any questions…” declared the same Torosyan from the NA podium.
It is questionable for what merit atheist Arsen Torosyan came to the United States to participate in a religious event. Is this a mockery of believers, of the United States, or of himself?
By the way, Arsen Trosyan left for the US at the expense of the state budget, with full reimbursement of daily allowance, overnight stay, and airfare."
