Types of skin rashes that occur frequently in children in summer: The pediatrician explains

In the summer, various skin rashes are encountered and exacerbation of the previously existing pathological conditions of the skin is observed. In the summer months, they are caused or aggravated by high ambient temperatures, sweat, insects, and exposure to the sun's UV rays. Summer skin rashes are more common among children, which is due to hypersensitivity of the skin.
Pediatrician Liana Nazaryan, head of the Emergency Medical Service of "Muratsan" hospital complex, spoke about some types of rashes that occur frequently in the summer.
Heat rash or sweating
In hot weather, with high humidity, the pores of the skin become clogged, causing sweat to remain in the skin, causing a rash consisting of small, itchy bumps. It is located in areas covered by clothing or areas where sweat may accumulate: neck, elbows, armpits. For prevention, it is recommended to keep children in a dry and shady place in summer.
Sun rash
Sun allergy or hypersensitivity can develop both when taking certain medications and having a hereditary predisposition. It manifests as red, scaly, itchy bumps. In some cases, blisters may even form. Usually passes within 10-14 days.
Sunburn of the skin
Caused by direct exposure to sunlight. It can be very painful, swollen and itchy later in the healing process. For prevention, it is recommended that children wear protective clothing or use a sunscreen with a high SPF factor.
Pelvic dermatitis or folliculitis
A condition caused by exposure of the skin to chemicals in swimming pool water (such as chlorine). Pink, itchy spots form, which can later turn into pimples. It is recommended to take a shower before and after going to the pool, change wet swimwear immediately, swim as little as possible in chlorinated pools.
A rash caused by an insect bite
Mostly, a small, local reaction develops in the form of an itchy rash and even hives. Wearing clothes of not very bright colors, using insect repellent sprays can prevent the above cases.
Rash caused by contact with poisonous plants
Poison ivy can cause a rash. These plants contain a sticky oil called urushiol, which causes skin redness, itching, swelling, and even blisters. Parents should know what these plants look like and keep children away from contact with them.
