All actors with a mandate in the field must take prompt and appropriate steps to address the issue. I informed "Armenpress" about this from the Office of the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, referring to the processes being carried out against Armenians illegally deprived of their liberty in Azerbaijan, in particular, the deterioration of Ruben Vardanyan's health condition and torture.

“As a result of social media monitoring, worrying information has been received about the deterioration of Ruben Vardanyan's health condition and torture.

The Human Rights Defender has repeatedly spoken about the fact that the processes carried out against Armenians illegally deprived of their liberty in Azerbaijan are not simply problematic, but are carried out in gross violation of universal principles and values of human rights, as well as international legal standards.

"In connection with the situation, upon the instruction of Anahit Manasyan, the staff has implemented and continues to implement appropriate steps within the framework of the Ombudsman's powers," the Ombudsman's office reported, emphasizing that taking into account the sensitivity of the issue and the importance of the Defender's staff working on the "do no harm" principle, they do not consider it appropriate to publicly present other details regarding the above-mentioned processes at this time.

The Ombudsman, under his mandate, continues to address all these issues to actors with a mandate to protect human rights.

"We emphasize that all actors with a mandate in the field must take prompt and appropriate steps to address the problem," the Ombudsman's office concluded .
