Will Hayk Sargsyan's project be watered down? "Hraparak"

"Hraparak" writes: Although the controversial bill authored by CP MP Hayk Sargsyan received a positive conclusion after life-and-death discussions in the NA Economic Committee weeks ago, it has disappeared from the "radar" and is not included in the agenda of the February 26 standing committee preceding the next NA sessions. We are talking, let us recall, about the bill to establish a 10 percent turnover tax for bookmaker companies, on the occasion of which the MP proposed to change the Tax Code and, in addition to the taxes and duties that currently exist, to tax these companies at the rate of 10 percent of turnover. We had written that although Hayk Sargsyan, after a heated debate with his teammates, achieved that the bill was adopted by the committee, it was not included in the agenda of the regular sessions that started last week.

The MP reported that a discussion is expected last Wednesday, as the Prime Minister’s Office has been asked to discuss the bill further. Although Sargsyan is not answering our calls, there is information that the CP members who are fighting against the bill managed to convince Pashinyan that its adoption will be a blow to the gambling business, especially since we are talking about businessmen close to the government. And although they did not reject it outright, they said that additional discussion and amendments are needed in order to delay the bill and water down the bill.
