"Zhoghovurd": What is the "democratic" prime minister afraid of? Why doesn't he publish all the documents of the Nagorno-Karabakh negotiations?
The "Zhoghovurd" daily writes: "For whom or for what purpose is Nikol Pashinyan avoiding making public the documents of all the negotiations on Artsakh? What is the Prime Minister, who has declared himself "democratic and has come out of the bosom of the people," afraid of?"
As the Prime Minister's Office informed RFE/RL, in his 7th year as Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan ordered "an inventory of the Karabakh negotiation documents available at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," and the justification is as follows: "after discussing and evaluating the possible publication of the package from the perspective of Armenia's state security interests." In other words, a decision should be made whether to publish certain documents or not.
The question arises: from whom is Nikol Pashinyan hiding the negotiation documents, or what dangers does he see if the wider international community, even enemy countries like Azerbaijan and Turkey, are fully aware of all the details of the negotiation process?
Let's talk about facts.
Back in 1992, the OSCE Minsk Group was established by the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE), a group of member states of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). This organization is called upon to find options for a peaceful, negotiated settlement of the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
It consists of 9 members: Belarus, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Finland and Turkey, Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the three co-chairing member states: Russia, France and the United States.
Although Azerbaijan is now demanding the dissolution of this structure, and Armenia is not at all against it, this structure is still formally functioning. And you don't need to have diplomatic skills to understand that all these OSCE Minsk Group member and co-chair countries are in possession of all the details and documents of the negotiations, which Nikol Pashinyan refuses to make public under the pretext of confidentiality.
The question arises: what dangers does Nikol Pashinyan see and why does he not make public what has been negotiated regarding Artsakh for years, especially since he loves to blame former presidents for leaving him a bad legacy in order to justify his incompetent diplomacy. Especially since a few days ago, on December 25, the First President suggested that Pashinyan publish all the peace plans officially presented by the Minsk Group co-chairs (including the one from June 2019) and the official responses of Armenian diplomacy.
It turns out, roughly speaking, that the whole world knows about the negotiation process, owns every documented detail, but Nikol Pashinyan is still playing cat and mouse and keeping the negotiation documents secret from his own people. Or maybe he is simply hiding how in 4 years he has failed the entire negotiation process of almost 30 years from his "zero point", and his own corrupt policy has led to the loss of Artsakh."
